the imaginary towns project
music video plus you

I have an idea for a music video for the song "Imaginary Towns", from my new CD, Walking Through Fire. Would you like to help?

The song is about being wistful for a simple life of family, friends, happiness, you know the stuff. What I'd like to do is have the video interspersed with pictures of exactly that kind of life. New pictures are great, old ones are even better.

To that end, you can help. If you'd email scans of one of your favorite old photograph to me, one that represents a happy, simple moment, I might be able to use it in the video. I'd like pictures that show some scenery - close-ups of people with not much showing around them won't work. It can be of you having fun alone or with others, relatives relaxing together, a shot of your childhood home, even strangers in a sweet situation. It's important that they be taken at home or in the immediate small-town neighborhood - the song is about hometowns, so I unfortunately can't use pictures at the beach, Mount Rushmore, or Times Square. The more of a story the picture tells, the better. As an example, the picture above shows three kids just being kids - happy, carefree. The look of wonder on the youngest boy's face is amazing. No technology in sight unless it's from long ago - dial phones, console TVs? ;) (This is important - nostalgia and iPhones don't mix).

I'll be taking submissions at stephengrayce@hotmail.com until I find what I can use (one submission per person please). The lyrics to the song are on my lyric page here to give you an idea of the feel I'm going for. Please note that I'm unable to pay for submissions; this is to be done on a strictly voluntary basis. The resulting video will eventually be shown on YouTube and my Facebook page.

I'm very excited about putting forward an image of nostalgia, warmth and love in this video. Please help if you can by showing me your version of what the "good old days" meant to you.

Love,
Stephen
